Get 1.21% APY
with Savings Account at WT Direct. There is no minimum
deposit required to open the account and for the first 60 days from the
date the account is opened, regardless of the account balance, the
account will earn WT Direct's highest APY, which is variable and
currently 1.21%. After the first 60 days, accounts with balances of
$10,000 or more continue earning at WT Direct's highest rate while
accounts with balances of less than $10,000 earn interest at WT
Direct's lower APY tier, which is also variable and currently at 0.15%
APY.
If you don't plan to maintain a balance above $10,000, check out the Orange Savings Account from ING Direct. Orange also pays out a
variable APY, which is currently set at 1.1%. But there is no minimum
deposit required.
We recognize that these rates are nothing to write home about. But they
do rank in the top 10 savings rates from secure institutions and
without onerous restrictions. Both WT Direct and ING Direct offer
better rates than most banks because they are online only, resulting in
lower costs. Accounts are easy to set up quickly and can be linked to
accounts with other financial institutions.
