Sony's ACID software program originated as a tool for building tracks using pre-recorded loops. However, it has grown into a full-fledged audio production package. When we got started with the Dealhack Podcast, we originally planned to use the commercial studio favorite application, Pro Tools. However, Pro Tools only works with a connection to approved hardware (presumably as an anti-piracy measure). However, we absolutely needed something portable enough to use anytime, anywhere and ACID fit the bill. In fact, we love working in ACID now. All the work they put into developing the software to support loops makes editing and mixing and really easy.
